Battery AMTB 18 - Norton Point (1942-1946) - Battery AMTB 18 - Norton Point was a reinforced concrete, World War II, 3 inch AMTB coastal gun battery near Fort Hamilton (1), Kings County, New York. Deactivated in 1946.
Part of the Harbor Defense of Southern New York. The battery had a dual mission of defense against fast enemy motor torpedo boats and enemy aircraft.
Originally built as a World War II concrete coastal gun battery with four 3" M1902MI guns mounted on M1902 pedestal carriages. Four concrete pads for the fixed guns were laid just back of the beach at Norton Point, Kings County, New York. The guns and carriages were transferred from emplacements #3-#6 of Battery Catlin, Fort Wadsworth, on 29 Nov 1942.
