I made a correction based on the following excerpt from an e-mail sent to me in May 2020 from Sue Richart, a director and treasurer of the Stevens County Historical Society in Colville, Washington:

« No one here would use the phrase "upriver" in the sentence "A federal fort established upriver from the Hudson's Bay Company fort ..." The HBC Fort Colvile (note only two Ls vice the 3 in the US fort) was on the Columbia River. The US Fort Colville was on Mill Creek which feeds into the Colville River. We tend to say it was 15 miles to the east of HBC Fort Colvile.  »
