Camp Mabry (1892-present) - Established in 1892 from donated land and named after Brig. Gen. Woodford H. Mabry a former Adjutant General of Texas (1891-1898). Presently the Headquarters of Texas Military Forces.

Camp Mabry History

Established in 1892 on land donated by a committee of prominent Austin citizens, the camp has expanded and contracted over the years, in the 1980's it was about 375 acres. The first building, an arsenal, was built in 1915 and the camp has expanded over the years to include many other buildings.

Current Status

Active military installation. The camp was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
