Fort Lane (1853-1856) - Established on 28 Sep 1853, about 8 miles north of present Jacksonville, on the south bank of the Rogue River near the mouth of Bear Creek. Was abandoned 17 Sep 1856. Immediate predecessor of Fort Lane was Camp Alden, it existed for a few months and was abandoned when Fort Lane was established.
