FortWiki.com is dedicated to documenting the historical forts, camps and stations that provided security and protection for the United States and Canada.
The goal is to combine the known public information about the forts, stations and batteries with detailed information from individual family histories and genealogies that may not be public. These histories and genealogies are rich with details about ancestors who lived, worked and fought at these forts and stations.
We are embarking on a trip through the southern states to document as many forts as we can along our route. You can see our route on our 2009 Southern Trip page. You can get Twitter updates daily at Twitter/FortWiki and you can get more substantial updates at the USForting.com. Let us know if you have any any suggestions for stops or places along the way that we should see. John
We have established a USForting.com Blog to help us describe our visits to forts and batteries. We hope that these descriptions will help others and make visits easier and more productive. Everyone is invited to participate so, if you want to blog about your fort visits, contact me and I will establish an author login for you. John
Welcome to the Fort Wiki. Everyone is invited to edit the information (articles) contained on this site. Please browse around, as you do, you are likely to think of many other people, forts, stations and other items that should be part of the site. Feel free to start an article on any subject that you see is missing. Don't worry if you don't have all of the information, just start it and others will finish it. By the same token, feel free to add or edit other articles if you see a way to improve them, even it's as simple as correcting a spelling error.
FortWiki will always be a work in progress. Improving the site will ensure the ongoing value of this resource to all members. Thanks for your help.
