Camp Wheeler (3) (1898-1899) - A Spanish American War 4th Army Corps training camp established in 1898 in Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama. Named Camp Wheeler 15 Aug 1898 after Major General Joseph Wheeler (Cullum 1843), Confederate General during the U.S. Civil War and second commanding general of the 4th Army Corps. Renamed Camp Albert G. Forse 23 Oct 1898 for Major Albert G. Forse, 1st U.S. Cavalry, who was killed in action at San Juan Hill, 1 Jul 1898. Abandoned in 1899.
