The land for the Middle Point Military Reservation was acquired by condemnation decree rendered 1 Apr 1899 that included both Middle Point and Orchard Point for a total of 715.75 acres. Middle Point Military Reservation (1899-1958) - An Endicott Period military reservation first established in 1899. Named after it's location at Middle Point, Kitsap County, Washington. Essentially a sub-post of Fort Ward (2). Partially abandoned in 1958 with the Navy retaining half of the reservation.

Part of the Harbor Defense of Puget Sound. Middle Point Military Reservation guarded the Rich Passage and the entrance to Bremerton Navy Yard.
