HistoryA VA state militia blockhouse was established in 1786 near the site of the earlier Fort Savannah. It was reportedly still in use by the state militia during the War of 1812. The blockhouse was demolished in the 1830s. Abandoned as a fortification in 1814. Current StatusThe Old Barracks (1787) is located at 200 North Jefferson Street in Lewisburg, West Virginia.
