Fort Powell (1) (1862-1864) - A Confederate fortification established in 1862 during the U.S. Civil War in Mobile Bay, Mobile County, Alabama. Destroyed and abandoned in 1864.
HistoryFort Powell was located on a shell island at Grant's Pass in Mobile Bay. The fort was not complete but would mount 5 rifled guns, 5 field howitzers and 2 long range guns.
