Fort Paskoya #1A French fur trading fort established in 1741 for Pierre Gaultier de Varennes, sieur de La Vérendrye on a little island in Cedar Lake. The first Fort Paskoya and then the second Fort Bourbon occupied that site. The first Fort Paskoya was abandoned about 1744 but there is some evidence that it remained unused for at least a year because of a shortage of trade goods. Fort Paskoya #2A second Fort Paskoya was established in 1754 at the present town of The Pas during the French & Indian War. That post was abandoned in 1759 as the French & Indian War took a decided turn against the French.
