The Watervliet Arsenal was founded in 1813 during the War of 1812 and has been manufacturing guns for America's defense ever since. In 1887, the arsenal became America's "Cannon Factory." It is the only U.S. Army manufacturing facility for large caliber cannon in volume. (Watervliet is pronounced water-vuh-leet)
