Fort San Felipe del Morro (1539-1961) - A Spanish Colonial fort established in 1539 near San Juan, San Juan County, Puerto Rico. Under Spanish control from 1539 to 1898. Came under United States control as a result of the Spanish American War and the Treaty of Paris (1898). Abandoned as a U.S. Army fortification in 1961.
