Pierre Chouteau, Jr. & Company (1838-1864) - This company purchased the name and assets of the American Fur Company after it went bankrupt in the 1840s. Partners Pierre Chouteau Jr., John Sarpy, Joseph Sire, and John Sanford. Pierre Chouteau Jr. owned about 250,000 shares while the other partners owned about 80,000 shares each.
