Naval Air Facility Adak

Naval Air Facility Adak (1942-1997) - Naval Air Facility Adak was alternately an Army Air Field, Air Force Base, and Naval Air and Communications facility located on Adak Island in the Western Aleutian Island Chain. Also known as Adak Army Airfield, Davis Air Force Base, and Naval Communications Station Adak.

Current Status

Abandoned but largely intact with the structures in varying states of deterioration. The land was sold to the Aleut Corporation for redevelopment in 2004. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Adak is slated to become the home port for the SBX-1 Sea-Based X-Band Radar platform.
